[Statue of] Thoracius. To a man of remarkable integrity and rectitude, an inimitable example, Caelius Severus, of clarissimus rank, patrician, of consular rank, curator of the city and patron of the colony of Pupput, who alone with his own generosity restored to a better condition and dedicated the forum, with its buildings, capitol and council chamber (curia), decayed by old age. The councillors (ordo) of Pupput [set this up] to their perpetual patron. Dedicated on the 8th day before the Kalends of June, in the consulship of the emperor Augustus Probus, for the fifth time, and of Victorinus. |
